Welcome to the Lady and the Pups website. Your destination for information on dog care, cat care, adoptions, volunteering, and of course, dog walking and pet sitting. The owner, Karen K (aka the 'lady' of the business), recently ended her decade long career in marketing to run her own dog walking business.  With a passion for animals and first-hand knowledge of the busy lifestyle of 9-5 workers, Karen wanted to provide animal care service for her fellow neighbors on the Upper West Side. Animal CPR/First Aid Certified
The owner is certified in animal CPR and first aid so you know your animals will receive immediate emergency attention should a problem arise. If the situation should require further medical attention, Lady and the Pups has Ambuvet, house call vets, and the three Manhattan 24/7 animal hospitals on speed dial should their services be needed.

No More Than Four Dogs Walked Together at a Time

Far too often, Lady and the Pups sees dog walkers handling upwards of ten dogs at a time. Not only are the dogs not receiving individualized attention, but often times, their 'walks' consist of only going from building to building to pick up other dogs. They are also usually left outside while the walker goes into a building to pick up other dogs which leaves them vulnerable to those with less than ideal intentions. This is not the kind of service Lady and the Pups endorses nor provides. Lady and the Pups focuses on what is best for your dog, ensuring that they are receiving individualized attention and a true walking experience. We do our best to pair dogs on walks that are friends so they can play together during the walk.

Walks are Conducted in Quiet Areas and/or in Pre-Approved Dog Parks

The streets of New York can be very busy and crowded with noise from cars and trucks as well as foot traffic, strollers and deliveries.  This can often cause a chaotic and unsettling experience for dogs, especially those who are shy or timid. Lady and the Pups ensures that the majority of a dog's walk are on quiet streets, free from most noise and foot traffic, so that they can enjoy a leisurely stroll at their own pace.  If the owner gives prior approval, Lady and the Pups is more than happy to take your dog to the nearby dog park of your choice.

Pet Sits are Comprehensive with No Hidden Fees

Should you decide to hire Lady and the Pups to stay at your house for a pet sit while you are out of town, Lady and the Pups provides full services while you are away including feedings, multiple walks during the day, bathroom cleanups (pee pads, litter boxes or otherwise), medication administration, mail pick up, and of course, play time and snuggling! These services are included in the flat rate price of the pet sit, they do not incur additional charges. Daily updates with photos are provided via text or email.
